Welcome to my wine blog. Started for John Boyer's Wine Geography class at Virginia Tech, but written with curiosity and the love of wine exploration. Enjoy!

End of Semester Catch All

So, this may be my last post for this class AND this past week has been my birthday week, (yay 22!) and so I had just a couple tastes that I'd like to share with you:

(Adam is holding the bottle)
My roommates gave me Prosecco at midnight, which was just lovely.

Name: Lunetta Prosecco
Year: 2014
Price: $10.64
Region: Veneto
Country: Italy
Variety: 100% Prosecco
Review: Color: Pale straw with greenish reflections, fine bubbles and a creamy white foam. Bouquet: Fragrant, with enticing aromas of apple and peach. Taste: Refreshing, dry and harmonious, with crisp fruit flavors and a clean finish

What I say: This is so yummy, and I'm so thankful my roommates remembered I like prosecco so much better than champagne. It's not sugar-sweet, but there is a hint of sweetness to it. I could taste the little bite of apple in it, which was lovely. It was dry, which went well with all its bubbled. It paired GREAT with red-velvet birthday cake!

When Professor Boyer told us that Strongbow was about to change the way it did cider for the US, I knew I had to try it before they changed it. Here was my experience:

Name: Strongbow Honey & Apple
Year: 2014
Price: $1.65 (each)
Country: England
Variety: 'hard' Apple Cider
Review: "Initial strong ‘cidery’ flavour from the fermented bittersweet juice with a hint of ‘appliness’ or cooked apple coming from the culinary fruit"

What I say: There was a lot of honey in this, which made me very happy. I loved the subtle apple flavor, more like a grilled apple, that was present- I was worried it was going to be much like drinking apple juice. It wasn't a very sweet thing, just the sugar from the honey, but it was quite refreshing. It went well with the break I took from homework to watch a little Netflix

And that's all, folks! It's been such a wonderful experience trying all these new wines and learning about them, the ones I've come to love and the ones I really hate, haha. I think I'll continue with this blog as I start my after-graduation adventures so stay tuned! But for now- back to the books to make sure the cap and gown wasn't for nothing. See you on the other side.
Cheers!
